Christmas Concert

After 10 days in the Galilee we were excited to be back at the Jerusalem center. We walked through the main entrance and were greeted by Christmas trees, nativities, red ribbons, and lights! The Christmas season in the Jerusalem Center - it was one for the books.

We'd been preparing for the Christmas concert all semester. During our first choir practice back in September Sister Jones busted out "Sing a Glad Noel" and added  "Christmas Hymn" shortly after. If you don't recognize the names of these two songs your not alone. I'm pretty positive practically no one else does either haha.

As a choir we also prepared Come, Thou Fount, Carol of the Bells, Sing We Noel, and O Holy Night for the final concert of the semester. I always sat my Brother Anderson who is an excellent tenor. I loved getting to connect with him every choir rehearsal.

Back in November Sister Jones asked a few of us to sing solos and small group numbers. She asked me to sing The Christmas Song as a solo which I was so excited about. I LOVE to sing jazz, especially Christmas jazz.

I was also asked to sing a few small group numbers: Silent Night with Austin and Dean, Angels We Have Heard On High with a quintet, and Winter Wonderland with a group of twelve.

We sang Friday night for our professors, the JC staff, and other special guests as a dress rehearsal. There were a few minor setbacks, the biggest one being the Steinway starting to roll away when Btother Jones was trying to shut the lid and it fell on his fingers!! And then he went on to play the rest of the concert. What a stud!

On Saturday, as I mentioned in a previous post, I got to sing I Stand All Amazed with Austin in our District Conference meeting. Then later that night at the Ladt Supper meeting I got to sing a special musical number in a quartet. Then Sunday we had our Christmas Concert open to the public.

Here are some videos of me singing The Christmas Song, Silent Night, and Angels We Have Heard On High!

It was so great to be a part of that concert. Definitely a highlight for me from the whole semester.
